vacation wrap-up

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Vacation was everything we could have hoped for and more. Luxury at it's finest. A few things that didn't happen: catching up on sleep, sunscreen, working, emailing. What did happen: sunrise to sunset, relaxing in the sunshine, sunburns, hot tubs, wine induced card games, eating, more eating, fort building and beach walks. I won't bore you with all the details, but in short, we had the best time and made incredible memories! We rented our house through VRBO.com and were SO incredibly happy with it. The views were amazing and it had the perfect beachy chic vibe. The weather proved to quite a treat and we unexpectedly came home with tan skin & crunchy beach hair (my FAV).

hi ho hi ho ... off to the beach we go.

Washington in the winter is sort of a death sentence. The sun comes out for a total of 5 minutes in 4 months and it always seems to have major repercussions for trying to show it's face around these parts. Paybacks in the form of rain, more rain, a light drizzle, maybe a shower and you guessed it, rain. Occasionally we get snow, wind and ice (that one's always super fun).

SO, naturally, we all go a bit crazy. Collin and I agreed a few years ago that we absolutely have to go find the sunshine every February or March in  an effort to restore our sanity. Last year we took a little "babymoon" (how lame is that term...it's verrrry different from a honeymoon, beliveyoume) to Arizona and basked by the pool, watched some basketball (March Madness, people!) and just soaked up the hot sun. It was pretty luxurious.

This year, we decided to take a little trip to the California coast. We have Boone this year, so laying poolside is pretty much out of the question. We rented a cute little house on the beach, are bringing along two of our best friends and plan on cooking some delicious food, lounging in the hot tub until our fingers are pruned and drinking wine by the bottle (is there any other way, really?).

There's sure to be lots of pics & updates upon our return! Adios, RAIN!
