4th of July

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

We're officially in the dog-days of summer, despite the weather screaming "it's fall! burn pumpkin candles!" ... #eyerollemoticon (has anyone ever figured out WHY blogs can't use emoticons? Because it's practically another dialect of the english language, and an extremely effective way of expressing your true feelings).

We had a super fun 4th of July with friends & family and we finally rolled the kids in to bed last night by 11:30. They still woke up before 8, which seems like some sort of cruel joke.

We decked out the bikes & strollers and walked in the town parade - SO festive!  Bellamy took her princess wave very seriously, and Baylor threw candy to the kids on the street like a total boss. I think Collin told him to "make it rain" at one point... #okfatjoe

Baylor was nothing short of horrified at the fireworks last year, but took it like a champ this year and braved the noise. He was reluctant at first, but after some shameless bribery, he was totally game. Bellamy handled things like the fearless second child that she is - she clapped & screamed "yay!" after every explosion.

Hope your 4th was amazing! So thankful to life in a free country because of the brave men & women that have come before us and will be after us. Let Freedom Ring!

4th of July!

Monday, July 6, 2015

Hope you all had a super fun 4th of July weekend! Ours was one for the record books, as temperatures were super high and we squeezed more into one day that what I'd consider possible. #winning

There were egg races (the boys won!), a balloon toss, boat races, a fishing derby, lots of lake time, popsicles at every meal, a million minutes on the 'jumpaline" (as B calls it), and some of the very greatest friends around. All in all, it was a pretty special day and both kids passed out when we got home at 10 o'clock. Baylor was pretty traumatized by the few fireworks that he did have to see, so we packed up and got the hell out of dodge before the little guy was too horrified. He was pretty pumped to have a sleepover on our floor (our neighborhood is very festive)... and I think we officially made his day just that much sweeter. As for sis, she is as carefree as they come and couldn't get enough.

So fun to think that next year, we'll have three little firecrackers ... halfway through my pregnancy and wish it would be here tomorrow!!

Now go kick Monday's ass, kid!

Baylor's 3rd Birthday

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

We've had a whirlwind week or so around here - Baylor turning THREE(!), Father's Day, and the start of summer. Baylor's birthday is such a fun kick-off to summer and one of my favorite weeks/weekends of all.

For as long as I can possibly roll with it, Baylor will have a red, white & blue birthday party. Not only is it one of my favorites, but when all is said & done, I'm already decorated for 4th of July! #momwin

This year, we did a little gymnastics party (because 3 yr olds are CRAY CRAY) and did a little after party over here with treats, s'mores, more cake and adult beverages (who says 3 yr old birthdays have to be dry?!)

Happy Birthday, Baylor Boone! We love you!
